1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster 'LT' replica

A lovely alloy-bodied XK120 Roadster built as an accurate replica of the factory “LT” cars prepared for Le Mans in 1951, complete with FIA / HTP papers.

This car came to us to have clutch issues resolved, as well as the installation of a correct ‘fly-off’ handbrake. We also took care of a couple of other smaller jobs that needed doing.

As you can see below, on this car it is actually easier to take the gearbox out from the cockpit.

We removed the driver-side lever. This was an awful hydraulic-type handbrake previously fitted by someone else. It was totally in the way of the driver’s left leg and not a welcome addition to a period-correct XK120.

Another photo shows the correct fly-off handbrake which sits on the passenger’s side of the transmission tunnel.

Having fabricated a brand new handbrake cable mount, we installed the new handbrake mechanism retaining the correct factory chassis mount, using parts from our large stock of period XK parts amassed over the past 40 years.

A mis-mounted anti-roll bar rubber was refitted and an exhaust leak was also taken care of.
